Who we are

Circlists is operated by Harness Intent Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17277971). When these terms say "we", "us" or "our", they mean Harness Intent Ltd. You can reach us at support@circlists.com.

What Circlists is

Circlists lets you share articles, videos and podcasts with a small group — a circle — and see what the people in it are reading, watching and reacting to. A subscription costs £3 a month or £30 a year and covers every circle you run, each of up to 10 members; everyone you invite joins free.

The person whose subscription covers a circle is its champion. The subscription is what carries the role: the champion holds the powers that shape the circle — inviting people, removing them and renaming it — and everyone else takes part without paying anything.

Your account

You need an account to use Circlists. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be at least 13 to create one. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

Payments

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you subscribe, you buy from Paddle, and Paddle's own checkout terms apply to the payment alongside these terms. Paddle handles billing, payment questions and refunds; we handle the product itself. Prices shown include VAT where it applies — Paddle, as merchant of record, takes care of that for your country.

Your first subscription starts with a free month: its first 30 days. You add a card when you subscribe, nothing is charged during those 30 days, and the first payment is taken when they end, after which the subscription renews automatically. If you cancel before the free month ends you pay nothing, and your circles stay awake until it ends. Each person gets one free month.

Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly, whichever you chose, until you cancel. You cancel, or switch between monthly and yearly, from your account in the app, where we show you what changes before anything happens. A switch takes effect at your next renewal, or at once during your free month so your first payment is at the new price, with nothing charged or credited when you make it. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and your circles stay awake until the end of the period already paid for, or of your free month.

If you change your mind, you can resume your subscription at any point before that period ends — nothing is charged and no date moves. Once the period has ended, your circles go to sleep, and any member of one can take it over by subscribing, or at no extra cost if their own subscription is active.

If the price changes, we'll email you in advance, and you can cancel before it applies.

When a subscription stops

When a subscription is cancelled, every circle it covers goes to sleep at the end of the period already paid for — or straight away, if a payment has failed and not yet been fixed. Cancelled during the free month, nothing is charged, and every circle it covers stays awake until the free month ends, then goes to sleep. When a payment fails instead, those circles carry on as normal while Paddle retries the card — up to 30 days — and go to sleep only if none of those attempts succeeds. Either way, everyone in a sleeping circle sees the same thing: the circle is asleep, and any member can take it over. Whoever takes it over becomes its champion, holding the same powers the last one held. The outgoing champion keeps their membership like anyone else, and nothing is refunded.

A sleeping circle does not last forever. We delete it 24 months after it goes to sleep, or 30 days after its last member leaves, whichever comes first — and deleting it takes the links, reactions and History in it. Waking the circle again lifts the first deadline; someone joining lifts the second.

Leaving a circle

You can leave a circle whenever you like. If you are its champion and the circle is awake, you can't leave it; to hand it to another member, get in touch at support@circlists.com. Leaving ends your membership and clears what you had marked done there; the links and reactions you added stay in the circle, under your name.

Support

For anything about the product — how it works, something broken, a question — email support@circlists.com and we'll reply within five working days. For anything about a payment — a charge, an invoice, a refund — Paddle is the right door: use the link in your receipt email or visit paddle.net. Cancelling your subscription is done in the app, from your account.

Your content

The links, reactions and other content you add to a circle stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them to the members of that circle — that's all we need to run the service. They stay under your name while your account exists, including in circles you have left. Don't use Circlists to share anything unlawful, or to harass or harm anyone; we can suspend or close accounts that do.

Ending things

You can delete your account whenever you like, from your account settings. Deleting it cancels your subscription: every circle it covers runs to the end of the period already paid for, or of your free month, then goes to sleep (straight away if a payment has failed and not yet been fixed), and any of its members can take it over. Until that date each circle carries on as normal but has no champion: nobody can invite or remove members or rename it, and nothing is charged again. Once it sleeps, whoever takes it over takes the role whole. It also takes your name off what you added: across every circle, the links you shared and the reactions you left — including the ones where you skipped reacting — read former member from then on.

We can suspend or end accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law prevents us.

Our liability

We provide Circlists with reasonable skill and care, but we can't promise it will always be available or fault-free. We're not liable for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of something we did wrong. Nothing in these terms limits liability we can't limit by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and update the date at the top. Carrying on using Circlists after a change means the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction — though if you live elsewhere in the UK or EU, you keep any protections and rights your local law gives you.
